沒有好句子， 就沒有好作文。

● 單數還是複數？
a lot of, plenty of, half (of), some (of), most (of), all (of) 出現在主詞前，須視主詞是否多數，決定動詞是單數或複數。

［請看例句］
Some rice grows in the Americas, but most of it grows in Asia.
有些美洲地區有產米，但大部分的稻米生長在亞洲。
★ rice 不可數，所以動詞用單數。
Some of these students are good at playing basketball, but most of them aren’t.
這些學生中有些很擅長打籃球，但大多數是不會的。
★ 學生為複數，所以動詞用複數。

● 用 There is、These are 或「 地方」 開頭時，單複數常被混淆。
［請看例句］
(X)  At the bottom of the stairs are standing a girl.（主詞與動詞不符）
(O)  At the bottom of the stairs is standing a girl.（單數動詞搭配單數主詞）
在階梯底站著一個女孩。
★ 以 there、here 開頭的句子，或以地方開頭的「倒裝句」，真正主詞是在主要動詞之 後，因此動詞必須向右看齊。
