不定代名詞 either 用來指「兩者之任一」，可代替人或事物。
例：You can talk to either of the (two) consultants.
你可以跟這兩個顧問任何一個談談。

Tip1因為 either 指的是單數的人事物，所以作為主詞時應使用單數動詞。
例：Either (of them) is good enough for you.

Tip2Either 也可作形容詞用，修飾單數名詞。
例：Either way is going to be costly.
兩個方法的任何一個都會很花錢。

Tip3Either 和 or 連用，形成連接詞組，表示「不是……就是……」。
例：Either his father or his mother always comes with him.
不是他爸爸就是他媽媽總是和他一起來。

Tip4Either 亦可作副詞用，表示「也」的意思，不過只限於用在否定句中。
例：Josh hasn’t read the report, and I haven’t either.
喬許還沒有看報告，我也還沒有。

▲neither 不定代名詞 neither 用來表示「兩者（任一）皆不」的意思， 可指人或事物。
例：I have seen neither of the (two) brothers.

Tip1與 either 相同，neither 亦指單數的人事物，故作為主詞時，動詞應取單數。
例：Neither (of them) is here.
[他們] 兩個一個都沒有來。

Tip2Neither 亦可當形容詞，修飾單數名詞。
例：Neither road is well maintained.
兩條路都沒有好好地維護。

Tip3Neither 和 nor 連用，形成連接詞組，表示「……和……皆不」。
例：Neither Lynn nor Olivia wants go to the game.
琳恩和奧莉維亞都不想去看比賽。

Tip4Neither 也可以當副詞，用來表達「也不」之意。
例：I don’t like sports, and neither does my boyfriend.
我不喜歡運動，我男朋友也不喜歡。

★注意，與 either 不同，副詞用法的 neither 須採「倒裝」形式。試比較：
Josh hasn’t read the report, and I haven’t either.
Josh hasn’t read the report, and neither have I.

★副詞用法的 neither 可採「簡略」式表達，例如：
A: I don’t drink coffee. 我是不喝咖啡的。
B: Me neither. 我也不喝。
Me neither 就相當於 Neither do I，也就等同於 I don’t either。
