resolution 堅實而持久的決定、決議、決心
- I have made a resolution to stop looking at my phone all the time.
我已經下定決心不再一直看手機了。 - I’ve broken all my New Year’s resolutions.
我的新年決心全都破功了。
solution 解決方案、解答
- The solution to this problem lies in us.
這個問題的解方就在我們身上。 - We need to find a solution soon.
我們必須趕緊找到解決辦法。
resolution 和 solution 的字形也非常相近，然而實際上，這兩個字在意思和用法上非常不同。resolution 是改變人生的決定，常伴隨著誓言，例如我們會在除夕時下定決心說：I have made a resolution to quit smoking.。而 solution 則意指終結問題，你通常會在文章中一起找到 solution 和 problem 這兩個字。注意，在寫problem/solution「問題 / 解決方案」的文章時，要使用 solution，千萬不可以用resolution。

scene 和 scenery 在語法上有相似之處，但意思卻大不相同。scenery 專指風景，而風景向來都是不可數。scene 則用於泛指一個場面或情節，它也可以有比喻的意思。
