“Believe in” is the phrasal verb to use when talking about one’s belief and acceptance of a certain concept or even person:
在談論某人相信及接受某種觀念、甚至是某個人的時候，「believe in」這個動詞詞組就能派上用場。

e.g. I know Naruto can defeat his enemies to become Hokage of his village—I believe in him!
[例] 我知道鳴人可以打敗敵人，而成為村子裡的火影───我相信他！
On the other hand, to simply “believe”—as opposed to believe in—someone is to trust his/her words regarding something:
另一方面，若是單純地「believe」而不是 believe「in」某人，則是指信任他對於某事的說法：
e.g. I believe Naruto when he says that he’ll bring Sasuke back.
[例] 我相信鳴人所說，他會把佐助給帶回來。
When asking a friend if she thinks that ghosts truly exist, in other words, we should use the question: Do you believe in ghosts? Note that “ghosts” is plural because we’re asking about all ghosts, not just one.
換句話說，當詢問朋友是否認為真的有鬼時，我們應該這麼問：Do you believe in ghosts?。注意「ghosts」是複數，因為我們問的是所有的鬼，而不只是一個鬼。
